What Manager is
Manager is a thinking partner for managers, available as a Slack app. It helps you capture observations, prepare for meetings, build a knowledge base, and manage tasks through natural conversation.
Data we collect
When you use Manager, we store:
- Slack identity — your Slack user ID, display name, and timezone
- Workspace info — workspace ID, name, and domain
- Messages — content of messages you send to Manager (DMs and @mentions)
- Generated data — tasks, notes, knowledge documents, and session metadata created through conversation
- Google account email — if you connect Google Calendar, we store the email address associated with your Google account to identify your calendar connection
We do not read messages in channels where Manager has not been invited or mentioned.
How we use your data
- AI processing — messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for responses. Anthropic does not use API data for model training. See their privacy policy.
- Context and memory — messages and derived knowledge are stored so Manager remembers context across conversations.
- Digests — if you opt in, your task and note data generates daily summaries delivered via Slack DM.
Google Calendar integration
If you choose to connect your Google Calendar, Manager requests access to:
- calendar.events — create events on your primary calendar and read your schedule so Manager can help with scheduling
- email — read your Google account email address to identify which calendar is connected
Manager's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically:
- We only use Google Calendar data to provide scheduling features you explicitly request (creating events, checking your schedule)
- We do not use Google data for advertising or sell it to third parties
- We do not use Google data to build user profiles for purposes unrelated to Manager's functionality
- Calendar data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API solely to generate responses to your requests — Anthropic does not retain this data beyond 30 days and does not use it for model training
- You can disconnect your Google Calendar at any time by telling Manager to disconnect it, or by revoking access at myaccount.google.com/permissions
Third-party services
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI inference. Does not train on API data. Deletes inputs/outputs within 30 days.
- Google — Calendar and identity APIs, used only when you connect your Google Calendar. See the Google Calendar section above.
- Render — US-based hosting. Data encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- Slack — we read and send messages within the scopes you authorized during installation.
Data retention
Data is retained while the app is installed. If uninstalled, we soft-delete the installation record but preserve your data in case you reinstall. You can request permanent deletion at any time.
Data deletion
Email support@mrdn.dev with your Slack workspace name. We will delete all associated data within 30 days.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time. You can uninstall the app from your Slack workspace settings.
Security
- All API communication uses TLS
- Database connections use SSL
- Bot tokens scoped to minimum required permissions
- No data shared beyond the services listed above
Changes
Material changes will be communicated via Slack DM to workspace administrators.
